Lee Jeans Review

The following is a guest post from my older sister Allison, a self-confessed snob who was reluctant to try out some affordable jeans…but she did, and here is what happened:

I am a former jean snob. With my body type, I felt I needed special jeans to magically hide my flaws and accentuate my positives.
To be honest, I have a big butt, no waist, normal thighs and skinny calves. And I’m short. Yes, it’s hard to find jeans that fit me.
Usually I’d find an amazing pair that I would wear every single day until they formed holes. Then it was off to Bloomingdale’s where I would ask a salesgirl to help me find jeans for my odd shape.
Forking over $150 minimum for Joe’s or Citizens jeans was painful, but I rationalized it by thinking of all the use I got out of them. I felt that stores like Old Navy and Gap couldn’t possible carry these special jeans I needed to fit my body type.
Fast forward to fall 2013. I buy my first real, big, grownup house. Suddenly I have real bills and real plumbing problems.
And then my favorite jeans rip. Oh no!
I definitely do not have $150 in my budget for new ones.  So I keep wearing them with the holes, until finally they become indecent and a male coworker suggests I get new jeans.  Point taken.
In the meantime, my sister has gotten some Lee Jeans to review.
“Those look good on you!” I tell her. Not a big surprise–she’s a skinny bitch who would look good in a potato sack.  I’m the curvy one in the family.
“Why don’t you ask them to send some jeans for me–someone shaped like a real woman?” I ask her.  So my Lee Jeans arrive and I’m wary but hopeful.
The first pair I try on are called Perfect Fit: Just Below the Waist.

I instantly like the feeling of having my muffin tops all securely zippered in.  Here comes the real test–I turn around and look in the mirror. Damn, girl!
Even my big butt looked good. I was shocked that my designer jean theory was about to be disproven.

Next I tried Gold Label Madison Skinny jeans in bright blue.

I would never ordinarily buy bright blue jeans, but once I had them on, they were staying. In fact, all the jeans looked good on me. Suddenly I had a whole slew of new outfit options.

Since that day, I have totally changed my tune about jeans.  I realized that more affordable brands can look just as amazing as designer brands. Lee Jeans are made for real women with imperfect bodies and they make us look good!  Do your wallet a favor and try some on the next time you’re at Kohl’s.
Styles I recommend are:  any of the Slender Secret jeans (they’re stretchy) and Platinum Label Perfect Fit Skinny Jeans (on sale for $44.99 right now).

I can really relate to this. I’m a huge jeans snob, and I’m realizing my pre-pregnancy jeans just do not work for my post-pregnancy body. I’d love to try out of pair of Lee Jeans!

I’m interested to know if you sent your Measurements to Lee or your Size? Because that would be good to know. When jeans come in numbers like “Size 8” it’s not too helpful for the buyer.

      Hi Melissa,

I told them what size jeans I wore (size 30) and she sent me some 8’s and 10’s. The 8’s fit really well. Good luck to you in your jean shopping!

I have a tough time with jeans. I’m short and curvy so I’m glad to hear a thumbs up from someone with a similar body shaped.
