What to Do with Old, Broken Toys

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

Tom’s of Maine has launched an innovative method for when you don’t know what to do with old, broken toys.

Too many toys and too much clutter…it gets overwhelming after awhile!

My preferred method of decluttering is to donate things we don’t need, but sometimes there’s crap that is not even fit for donation…then the question is what to do with old, broken toys?

So I toss them in the trash. (Sometimes even if they aren’t technically “broken,” but don’t tell my kids that!)

But now there’s a better way to deal with this problem.  Read More »

As the holiday season approaches, I am inspired to focus on charitable giving.

Last year I was trying to figure out what to do with a bunch of toys we had that were in great condition but my kids didn’t play with much anymore. A quick Google search led me to Second Chance Toys.

Second Chance Toys is a non-profit organization that collects your gently-used plastic toys and donates them to children in need. Collections are held twice a year, for Earth Day and during the December holiday season. Read More »

The Art of the Toy Rotation

Art of the Toy Rotation

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

My children have too many toys. This has become even more apparent as I am unpacking in the new house and trying to fit everything into a nice, neat spot.

The older kids’ room has been last on my to-do list for exactly this reason…I am dreading where to put all of their toys. Every time I think I have unpacked the last box of toys, I find another one.

But now that I have all the toys in the house, I know that I need an innovative solution. I don’t want the room crammed wall to wall with toys. I don’t even want their closet (and it’s pretty big) crammed wall to wall with toys. I have some toys being stored in the family room. And until we have our basement finished, there is no other place I want to put them.

I mean, they don’t even need all the toys. There are just too manyRead More »

With the holidays fast approaching, it’s tempting to buy your infant the brightest and shiniest toys in the toy aisle.

You know, the ones with the flashing lights and beeping noises. (The annoying ones.)

But for the younger set (around six months), it’s best to keep toys simple. Read More »

Shopping for kids is probably the easiest of everyone on my list. It seems as if my daughter is intrigued by anything she sees on TV or in the stores.

I tried to be a bit discriminating, however, when selecting toys for this Holiday Gift Guide for Kids.

I am of the firm belief that babies don’t really need a ton of presents to open for the holidays. (They don’t know the difference.)

Still, I do like to get my kids a few little presents when they’re really little…the Christmas tree looks nicer with more gifts under it, after all!

Here are my top picks of gifts for babies and toddlers…

Bunny Peek A Boo: SmartGames for Kids

bunny peek a boo

Disclosure: I was provided with the Bunny Peek A Boo game in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

I always love discovering educational-ish toys for my kids. Sure the electronic toys with the bells and whistles are great, but I feel like there’s a bit too much of that nowadays.

When I met the SmartGames people at Sweet Suite last month, I was very impressed by their their toys. They showed me the Bunny Peek A Boo game, designed for children ages 2 and up, but I was skeptical that my 3-year-old would be able to do it. Read More »

The Sweetest of Suites: Holiday Toy Preview 2014

Sweet Suite 4

Disclosure: I received a box full of toy goodies for attending Sweet Suite. Opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links to help support The Naughty Mommy.

One of the best perks of being a blogger is getting to attend TOY events! Playing with new toys before they hit the market and giving feedback on what I think my kids will or will not love is so much fun.

I’ve met lots of great brands in the past two years and I have tried to share the best of the best with you!

Recently I attended the famous Sweet Suite, which is the kickoff event (and highlight!) of Blogger Bash in New York City. Blogger Bash is a two-day event put on by Real Mom Media (and the fabulous Joey Fortman), TheBigToyBook.com, and Charlene Chronicles. Sweet Suite is the best place to get a holiday toy preview months before it’s even time to start shopping! Read More »
