As Long As We Have Wine

Well, this is it…the final countdown!

If you are hosting Thanksgiving, like me, today is your day to run around getting ready like a chicken with its head cut off. Or rather, a turkey.

I actually did my errands yesterday, so today is for cleaning the house, baking desserts, and prepping the other menu items. And finishing some blog posts, going for a run, tending to the children, and drinking heavily once my family arrives.

I got some really cute holiday decorations at Kohl’s yesterday, including the “As Long As We Have Wine” decorative wall hanging pictured above. How cute is that? (Take 15% off your Kohl’s order today!) Read More »

Thanksgiving Aftermath

annoying kids ecard

It’s funny– I wrote a post about Surviving Thanksgiving, but what I really should have written was one about Surviving the Thanksgiving Aftermath.

Thanksgiving itself wasn’t too difficult when you consider all the help I got with the food, preparation, and clean-up.

But then it’s Black Friday morning. Your husband leaves for work by 8:00 AM. The house is still pretty disheveled– extra tables set up, desserts EVERYWHERE, and still some pots and pans soaking in the sink. Read More »

Seriously, where has this month gone?

Less than two weeks until Thanksgiving and I feel like November just started. I still have so much to do to get ready to host Thanksgiving, finish up my Holiday Gift Guides, and just generally get in the holiday spirit.

In other news, today I have that fun sugar test to see if I have gestational diabetes. Remember that one? Where you drink the sugar water and wait an hour while having fasted all morning? Good times! Wish me luck…

Since Andy Cohen’s new book, The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year, was released this week I thought I should have a giveway. So if you want to win one of three copies of The Andy Cohen Diaries, keep reading! Read More »

Hosting Thanksgiving: A Survival Guide

Hosting Thanksgiving

This will be my fourth year in a row hosting Thanksgiving at my house. We usually have about twenty guests with my husband’s and my family combined.

My extended family thinks I’m a saint.

As my husband’s Aunt Barb likes to tell me, “We’re so happy you joined the family, Lindsay. We will always love you as long as you keep hosting Thanksgiving and none of us have to do it!”

(Or something like that. I know it’s something about how no one else wants the duty of hosting Thanksgiving and how I’m so awesome.)

But really…I have a little secret. For me, hosting Thanksgiving is actually a breeze! Read More »

While I may not have Martha Stewart’s flair for decorating or entertaining, I do try to put small, festive touches to every gathering I host.

This includes Thanksgiving, which I have hosted for the past few years. I’m still finalizing my Thanksgiving dinner menu– it’s always the side dishes that I can’t decide on!

One easy way to class up the joint on Thanksgiving is to make a fancy Thanksgiving dinner menu that you can display for your guests.

It’s fun, it’s easy, and it looks fabulous! Read More »
