Ideas for gifts for littler kids.

This Holiday Gift Guide was the easiest for me to put together because I have two highly-qualified panelists living in my house…a three-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl.

Every day I hear what new thing they want on their list for Santa Claus.

Here is the best of the best… Read More »

Is He Dead?! {Tales from an Elf on the Shelf Failure}

When you suck at Elf on the Shelf…

elf-on-the-shelf

I feel like I’m doing this whole Elf thing wrong.

I bought my Elf on the Shelf a few years ago, before the time when it actually meant anything to my kids (if it even means anything now).

I think my oldest was maybe two years old. I read about this cool new tradition and decided we should try it. I put the Elf out where she could see it and she stared at it (and me) with a blank expression.

“He’s here to watch you and report back to Santa!” I told her. More blank stares. Read More »

Christmas Eve checklist

Christmas Eve can be torture for kids.

They know that Christmas is right around the corner, but it seems like time stands still just when they are soclose to Santa bringing presents!

So what’s the key to getting through Christmas Eve with minimal fuss and frustration?

Keep the kids busy and having fun!

Here’s a checklist of fun things that my family likes to do on Christmas Eve. Let your child check each one off with an “X” after it is completed.

ABC Family's 25 Days of Christams

While I do love Thanksgiving, I have officially declared it the start of the Christmas season in my house, meaning I can play Christmas music and light evergreen candles (much to my husband’s dismay).

ABC Family is ready to get in the spirit, too– it just released its 25 Days of Christmas schedule…almost an entire month of tons and tons of Christmas movies!

Peruse through the schedule, find your favorites, or even print it out so you can hang it in your kitchen. (Printable version is at the end of the post.)

The Christmas Scarf

The Christmas Scarf

No, this is not going to be a sob story about a mom’s dying wish (way to be festive!)  like that insufferable song “The Christmas Shoes.”

This is my sob story about how I have been promising my husband that I would knit him a scarf for the past five years. Pre-marriage, pre-kids.

Here’s the thing– I can only kind of knit. I usually need my sister (an expert knitter) sitting down next to me to help me cast on (start the scarf) and then to fix it when I mess up. This happens a lot.

So I have started several scarves, but whenever my sister leaves…the knitting stops. Yet I still claim that I can knit and five years ago I told my husband I wanted to knit him a scarf for Christmas. Read More »

Water Water Everywhere

photo (34)

It’s December 9th and I’m looking out the window at pouring rain. Can’t we get some snow? Pretty please?

Inside my house is also an exciting scene: half-decorated tree, pumpkins (don’t ask), and a three-year-old in a smock and my shoes.

Speaking of torrential amounts of liquid, yesterday I started a challenge to drink a gallon of water each day for 30 days (which I am referring to as “Operation Chug-A-Lug”).

Day 1 went swimmingly (hehe). Seriously, though, it was not hard at all.

Frequent trips to the bathroom? Of course. But that was really the only bad part.  Read More »

Getting Into the Holiday Spirit with Hallmark

hallmark holiday

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here. Hallmark sent me several of its holiday items in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Everywhere you go now, there is Christmas stuff. Target (obviously), Rite-Aid, and even my Shop Rite is all decked out.

God forbid I have my kids with me when I’m out shopping, because they see the shiny Christmas stuff and they want it ALL. But how do you separate the good stuff from the crap that will end up breaking in two days?

You purchase quality items from manufacturers like Hallmark, which has an entire collection of Christmas decorations, novelties, ornaments, and more at its magical online city called Northpole. Read More »

Fake Trees & Fire Drills: Real Housewives of New Jersey Recap

RHONJ Recap

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links to help support The Naughty Mommy.

Was tonight the first time hearing the RHONJ gals’ new taglines or did I miss it last week?

Anywho, they were really nothing special, except Dina’s. I did enjoy the fact that the twins Teresa and Nicole didn’t even warrant their own intro screens, but they had a shared one. “You’re not seeing double, you’re seeing trouble.” Eek.
