Since it’s November and the Thanksgiving season, I try to remember to be extra thankful this month.

Today I am thankful for having a completed kitchen and a working sink!

I definitely did my fair share of complaining throughout this kitchen renovation process, but it actually flew by pretty quickly. (I can say that now, because it’s over!)

Kitchen Renovation Update

Here are some more pictures of the finished project.

The only thing left is getting the microwave hooked up, which is happening tomorrow.

Oh, and swapping out that curtain for something that actually matches the new kitchen’s colors!

I didn’t have stainless steel appliances before this– man are they hard to keep clean! The fingerprints! My husband found this stuff at Home Depot that is supposed to be fingerprint repellent. Jury’s still out on whether or not it will work, but I’ll keep you posted…

Third Trimester

As of yesterday I am 27 weeks pregnant and (I thought) in my third trimester. But now that I just looked it up, some sites say 27 weeks begins the third trimester and other sites say 28 weeks.

Not like it matters. The point is that I’m 2/3 of the way through! Yahoo!

If I ever want another child, someone refer me back to my blog posts from this time. I don’t want to do this again. I’m done.

In recent days my sciatica has been getting worse and worse. I spend hours sitting on a heating pad. Not to mention the melasma on my face.

I booked a prenatal massage that is supposed to help, but I’m not holding my breath.

My husband is still no help with choosing a name. I have, however, gotten lots of opinions from other people on my top names. I think I’m going to stop telling people the names I’m actually considering and just saying that we’ve settled on Caillou. Just to see their reactions.

Banana Bread Recipe

If you noticed in the picture, there was a tray of muffins on the stove. I had been searching for a really good banana bread recipe for awhile and I think I found a winner!

Of course, it’s from Martha Stewart. It’s actually a recipe for banana bread, but I just used it for muffins and cooked for less time.

After reading the comments, I also opted to use less sugar than the recipe calls for (3/4 cup instead of 1 cup). They were definitely still sweet!

Thanksgiving Prep

Speaking of yummy recipes, I’ve been pinning some great ones to my Thanksgiving board on Pinterest. I want to try out some new dishes this year (we host Thanksgiving every year for our family) and I keep finding more and more on Pinterest!

Here is my board if you’d like to follow it. It’s not just recipes, it has anything Thanksgiving related like decor ideas, crafts for the kids, and a roundup of the 20 best Thanksgiving books (all under $10).

OH. And if anyone has ever done a sriracha turkey of some sort, I’d love to get a recipe! My husband came up with this unusual idea during a long car ride when we were starving and now he’s kind of set on doing it. Problem is, I can’t find any Thanksgiving sriracha turkey recipes.

Go See the Mermaids!

If you’re local to the NJ/Philly area, there are still a few more days to go see the Weeki Wachee Mermaids at Adventure Aquarium! We went last weekend and it was so cool.

Underwater Spectacular

Also, tonight is the Mermaid and Pirate Charity Ball from 6:30-9:30 P.M.

If you want to experience the mermaids, hurry– they are only at Adventure Aquarium through November 9!

In other local attraction news, my friend over at A Day In Our Shoes is giving away tickets to see the Imagination Movers at Sesame Place. I just entered– your turn!

The kitchen looks awesome! Doing a quick Google search I found a recipe for deep fried turkey with sriracha marinade. We brine every year, and you could totally swap in some sriracha for some of the salt factor. I’ve never injected, but you could probably make a concoction with sriracha to add extra moisture too!

So we do one deep fried turkey every year, plus one on the grill. My husband thinks that the deep fried turkey stands alone and doesn’t need any special sauce or whatnot…so we are going to do the sriacha turkey on the grill, I believe. I think you’re right– what I will end up needing is just a marinade or injecting solution. Hopefully I’m using those terms right. I never do ANY turkey prep- that it all my husband!

To be honest I have stainless steel and decided a long time ago that keeping it finger print free is a battle I am not willing to fight. Just wipe it down and go on with your day. Not worth the stress especially with being pregnant. It’s ok if it has prints on it. As long as it’s not covered in dirt you’re ok!

Half the fingerprints are mine, to be honest! It doesn’t stress me out, thank goodness!

Kitchen looks great! The fingerprints are always on everything but it reminds me they will only be little for a short time! (Well, that and I’m too tired to clean them constantly!)
Weiman wipes work really well to clean stainless!

Food Network mag has a delish goat cheese mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving that I’m trying out!!! I also have a fabulous sweet potato gratin (adapted from Martha by an old co-worker) and it’s like dessert at dinner- yum. LMK if you want it!

Thanks, Laura! I don’t like goat cheese, so I wouldn’t make those 🙁 Maybe the sweet potato gratin! You’ll have to share the recipe!
