I gained some insight from a helpful book.
First of all, call off the Amber Alert– I did find Lilly’s lunch box. I went back to the last place I remembered her having it, her gymnastics camp a week earlier.
BOOM. It was right there in the same cubby she put it in.
Thankfully, there were no disgusting food remnants in it. Just a water bottle and an empty bag of Doritos.
But anyways, on Friday I woke up at 4:45 A.M. for my 5:00 workout with my trainer.
It was nice for once to be up early, feeling good, with no wine headaches for my workout…especially since on Wednesday I was a no-show due to my hangover. Eek!
I had a much easier time getting Lilly on the bus in the morning, praise Jesus!
My other two didn’t have preschool so I dropped them off at my neighbor’s house and headed to the hell that is known as the West Virginia Walmart.
I am not a fan of Walmart, but living out in the sticks it is the closest big store around and sometimes I just have to go there. (Target is thirty minutes away. Wah.)
In the afternoon, my friend called to tell me about this awesome new winery she discovered. Like so awesome that she said we should keep it a secret.
It was that good.
Gorgeous views, delicious wines, and great member perks.
Sounds great, I thought. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to check it out for another twenty-seven days. But who’s counting?!
Friday afternoon around the traditional happy hour time was when sobriety got kind of boring. It’s the weekend! Shouldn’t I be drinking?
My husband had stopped at a brewery on his way home from work. I was making the kids dinner and cleaning up– usually my go-to time for a relaxing glass of cold white wine.
I reminded myself how good it would feel to not be drunk and have a horrible night of sleep ahead of me. I tried to look forward to the shows I had to catch up on tonight, Big Brother and Bachelor in Paradise.
Not drinking on a Friday night definitely bummed me out, but I think that’s to be expected.
I got in bed early again. But I did read a little of the book that came today…I found it on Amazon.
It’s called Almost Alcoholic.
I know, I know, it sounds very dramatic. It’s about a growing segment of the population that is not considered alcoholic, yet their drinking can be problematic at times.
It was one of those books where I was nodding my head in agreement and recognition as I read along.
So to sum it up…my Friday evening was spent not drinking AND reading a book about not drinking.
Not drinking feels lame.
