Disclosure: I was provided with a Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 to try out for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Lately I have been realizing that it’s probably a good idea for my three-year-old to do something besides watch YouTube videos on our tablet.

So when Verizon Wireless offered to loan me a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and suggest some apps that would be appropriate for my daughter, I immediately agreed.

Right out of the box, I saw that the Galaxy Tab had instant advantages over our current tablet (the first being that it didn’t come with toddler fingerprints and goo all over it).

We had been using the Motorola XOOM, which I now realized was terribly big and bulky. The Galaxy Tab is more like the size of my Nook.

Tablet Comp

My husband and I used the Galaxy for surfing the Internet and my daughter used it for playing with apps.

The two things we were most impressed with were the speed of the Verizon Wireless network plus the difference in the tablet’s display.

The Galaxy has a far superior display to our Motorola XOOM or any other tablet we have used. It is brighter, clearer, and more vivid.

Also, when it comes to tablets, I don’t find that bigger necessarily means “better.” I now prefer the smaller Galaxy to the larger XOOM.

I would definitely recommend the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 as a tablet for the whole family.

Key Points

  • Smaller, sleeker design than other tablets on the market
  • Vivid color display– absolutely gorgeous
  • Good size for little kid hands
  • Comes with the fast, reliable Verizon Wireless network
  • Pricey, but in line with other tablets of this quality
