Okay so I think it’s officially too late to still order gifts from Amazon and have them delivered in time for Christmas. Still need gift ideas? Or just a fun, easy craft to do with your kids? 

If you have water, salt, and flour, you can make adorable salt dough ornaments that stand the test of time and make a wonderfully sentimental gift.

You may ask how I know that these ornaments last so long. Here is how I know:

My husband made the salt dough ornament pictured above in 1984, and it is currently hanging on our Christmas tree. Yes, it looks as if someone or something may have taken a bite out of it, but it’s still alive and kicking!

My friend Krista sent me the recipe for the dough, and she got it from our other friend Laura. So thank you, ladies!

    great post! 🙂 i let my kids use kid-friendly paint. once the ornaments dried i gave them a coat of mod podge glue for a little shine! merry christmas!
