This wasn’t how I wanted 2015 to end, but what can you do? Cheers to 2016 and fresh starts!

Happy New Year

This is not how I pictured New Year’s Eve 2015 going down. But there I was, lying in the guest bedroom at 3:30 A.M. awake and unable to sleep.

After attending a late afternoon kid-friendly New Year’s Eve get-together, I came home with my two youngest to put them to bed at 7:00.

I had a slight headache so I didn’t drink any more once I came home. I watched some of the Walking Dead marathon and ate some pigs-in-a-blanket (my fave).

I went to bed around 9:30, mainly because I was bored. This will be great, I thought. A nice, early bedtime to start 2016 refreshed!

NOPE.

I languished in that state of not being quite asleep for hours. I finally glanced at my phone and looked at the time. 1:06 A.M.

I couldn’t believe I was now up past midnight after making a conscious effort to go to sleep before the ball drop. Talk about ironic.

I went in the guest bedroom so I could read and not wake my husband. I started a new book on my Nook. I finally drifted off around 4:30 A.M. only to be awakened at 5:00 by the baby wanting a bottle.

And that’s how I rang in the New Year. Hardly an exciting evening, but draining nonetheless.

As always, I look forward to a new year and a fresh start. New planners, new calendars, and new TV shows like The Bachelor starting soon!

So as I say goodbye to 2015, I am celebrating that it was a truly great year for me and my family.

We moved to an amazing neighborhood in Virginia.

My blog grew and became more successful.

I wrote my first book

Happy 2016. Also TRIED to beat the ball only to be woken by the insanely loud and long fireworks my town does. I felt tired and cranky all day-should have boozed after all!!
