Monday again? Really?

I hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day, whether you are a mom or are blessed to have a mom to celebrate in your life.

I got to “sleep in” until the late hour of 6:15 A.M. yesterday when I was greeted by my almost-two-year-old and his poopy diaper. But such is the life of a mom, and why would it be any different on Mother’s Day? Kids don’t know that it’s a special day when Mommy is supposed to be pampered. Not quite sure if my husband got the memo, either…

Anyway, we headed to Long Beach Island to have a Mother’s Day brunch with my husband’s family. It was a lovely morning filled with bagels, donuts, champagne, other people watching my kids so I could relax on the couch, and even a walk to the beach.

I had told my husband that all I wanted for Mother’s Day was a picture of me and all three kids, but of course he forgot his camera. I guess we could have used a phone to take the picture, but I wanted a good one.

All chances of that “good picture” got shot to hell when I felt something dripping down my arm. Yes, the baby had pooped all over my nice shirt. The only extra shirt available for me to wear was my father-in-law’s “Nobody Beats The Wiz” t-shirt from the early 90s. It looked great with my skinny jeans and heels, let me tell ya.

Poopy incident aside, it was a pretty good Mother’s Day and the first one that I had with my complete family of three kids. (No more after this one!) My husband’s gift to me was the reupholstery of our dining room chairs, which were another relic from the 90s or possibly the 80s.

Nobody Beats The Wiz

He did an amazing job– picked out the fabric (an indoor/outdoor one that wipes clean with a cloth) himself and did all the work with no help from me.

Then I ended the day with a humongous glass of wine and a Lifetime movie called Stockholm, Pennsylvania that I taped on Saturday. I haven’t finished it yet but it is sooooo good.

Things have been a little quiet on the blogging front because I’m still having difficulty finding the time to write. It seems like the only consistent “free hours” I have each day are from 8:00-10:00 P.M. and by then I’m too tired to do anything but watch TV or read. Also, I’ve been working on my eBook, which will hopefully be released sometime this summer on Amazon. It’s a collection of (mostly) previously unpublished essays on everything from pregnancy to marriage to adjusting to mom life.

Speaking of books, I just ordered Bethenny’s new book, I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To: 10 Rules for Not Screwing Up Your Happily Ever After. I’m curious to hear her advice and see if it’s the kind of stuff that would be fun to test out for a month, a la The Melissa Gorga Experiment that I did so long ago. I’ll let you know if it’s worth the read or a total waste of money.

And finally, one week until The Bachelorette premieres! I always say I’m not going to watch it and then I end up getting sucked in, as is the case with most reality TV shows.

Hope you all have an enjoyable Monday and remember, nobody beats The Wiz! (Sorry if I get that commercial jingle stuck in your head, but it’s been in my head since yesterday so I thought I’d spread the wealth.)
