The Castaways

So I know I said I’ve been in Long Beach Island for the past several weeks, but for the past few days I’ve been in Nantucket…in my mind.

Thanks to what can only be described as an addiction, I have read three Elin Hilderbrand novels in the past week: Nantucket NightsSummerland, and The Castaways

Is there a support group for this?

Last summer I read my first Elin Hilderbrand book, Barefoot. I guess I liked it, but I don’t remember loving it. Still, I’ve been in L.B.I. for so long that I’ve gone through all the books I brought with me.

I picked up Nantucket Nights and Summerland at the Surf City 5 & 10 on a whim. I already had tons of crap for my kids in my shopping basket– why not something for me to enjoy? Two somethings, in fact!

Nantucket Nights

I tossed the books in my cart without realizing that I wouldn’t be able to put them down. I was reading Nantucket Nights every spare second…when I woke up in the morning, during meals, and in the evenings.

I didn’t think I would like Summerland as much as I liked Nantucket Nights, but I liked it EVEN BETTER!

Summerland tells the story of a deadly car crash involving four high school students and the devastation that follows.

Summerland

After I finished Summerland, I felt a bit like a junkie. I returned to the Surf City 5 & 10 and bought my third novel…The Castaways. It did not disappoint.

The Castaways is about three couples dealing with the loss of their friends Greg and Tess, who drown while out sailing.

Death is a theme in all three of these books but there’s also cheating spouses, secrets, and crumbling friendships. If you’re into drama like soap operas or reality shows, I think you’d be a fan of Hildebrand books.

I know these books make great beach reads but if you’re trying to hold on to summer as the weather gets cooler, grab any of these Elin Hilderbrand novels and transport yourself to the sunny shores of Nantucket. You won’t regret it!

And if you turn into an Elin Hilderbrand addict like me, you will be happy to know she has a bunch of other books…I can’t wait to keep reading them!

I love her books. I started reading them about 7 summers ago. I love to read over the summer since I am off and her books are just the right reads. Enjoy.
