holiday gift guide 4-6

I was able to test out lots of fun toys at some blogger toy events this season.

Here’s the best of the best for kids ages four to six years old!

AND...enter to win a Furby Boom! (This giveaway has now ended.)

Fisher-Price Loving Family Dream Dollhouse: Can I move into this house? Pretty please? It has nine rooms, a solarium, a winding staircase and (best of all) extra storage space. This is like the Little People sets, but for older kids. The Dream Dollhouse comes with a family and other accessories. It is available on Amazon

Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice Cream Shoppe: This set comes with three cans of Play-Doh and tons of accessories to make the yummiest ice-cream treats a child could want! I like Play-Doh because it keeps kids busy AND encourages creativity and pretend-play. This is available on Amazon.

Just Play Doc McStuffins Magic Talkin’ Doc and Friends: This is great for Doc lovers that are over the age of 3, because there are small parts that come with it. Doc talks, sings, and takes care of Lambie and Stuffy with her checkup table. It is available on Amazon.

3-in-1 Head Warmer: This head warmer is a hood, scarf, and a face-warmer all in one. It comes in multiple sizes and colors, and is made of washable fleece.  It is available at the One Step Ahead website.

Imaginext Rescue City Center: This city center has a gas station, firehouse, rescue squad, and more. It also comes with a fire truck and action heroes. Your child will love to play hero and save the city! The Rescue City Center is available on Amazon.

Play-Doh Disney Princess Design-a-Dress Boutique Set: Got a budding fashionista on your hands? Your child will love to make dresses with the molds and then add extra ribbons and ruffles. Then Rapunzel and Belle will model the gowns. This is available on Amazon

Super Why ABC Letter Game: “W-H-Y spells why!” If that song sounds familiar to you, then your child will love to play the Super Why board game. This game is good for children who are learning to read or early readers. Skills emphasized are: letter recognition, rhyming, spelling, and basic reading. This is available on Amazon. Pair it with the Super Why – Wave and Learn Magic Spelling Wand for a fun, educational gift!

Fur Real Friends Cuddles My Giggly Monkey Pet Plush: I got to play with this toy at a blogger event and it was adorable. Cuddles responds when you play with her. She giggles and makes monkey sounds. Feed her from her banana bottle and then watch her close her eyes when you put her to bed. This is a fun, lifelike alternative to getting your child a real pet. There are other kinds of Fur Real Friends, but this is my favorite. It is available on Amazon, but may be cheaper on sale at Target or Walmart. Check your stores!

Thames & Kosmos Little Labs Stepping into Science: Give your child an introduction to the wonderful world of science with this kit for “start-up scientists!” Help your child investigate five topics: nature, physics, chemistry, air, and water through the guided experiments. This is available on Amazon, along with other varieties of the Little Labs kits.

cameraPlayskool Showcam 2-in-1 Digital Camera and Projector: This is a camera and projector in one. Your child can take and store up to 1,000 photos, plus customize pictures with silly stamps and sounds. This is easy to use for a child, with its chunky size, soft grips, and big buttons. This is available on Amazon.

LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra Kids’ Learning Tablet : This tablet is AWESOME. I tested it out and was shocked at how vivid the graphics were, compared to other kids’ tablets on the market. Parents can control exactly what children can access with “kid-safe Web.” Download LeapFrog apps, games, eBooks, videos, or music. This is pricey, but from what I’ve heard it is worth it. You can get all the details about it here, and it is available on Amazon.

spidermanSpider-Man Stunt Wing Spider Plane: Make Spiderman fly, flip, and turn in his spider plane! Or stand him on the wing while the plane does stunts! Spiderman comes with the vehicle. This is available on Amazon.

furbyFurby Boom: Give your Furby Boom a name and shape its personality by how you treat it. Feed your Furby and take it for virtual checkups. Build a Virtual Furby Furblings City by connecting to the Furby Boom App and playing games. There are tons of varieties of Furbies to choose from. The manufacturer recommends this for six years and up, but even those a little younger will have fun with the Furby. These are available on Amazon.

CONTEST: One lucky reader will win a hot pink/black striped Furby Boom. To enter, simply comment below and answer the question: what would you name your Furby Boom?

Contest open to U.S. residents only. Winner will be chosen randomly and notified by email. Winner must respond within 48 hours, or a new winner will be chosen. Contest ends at 10:00 P.M. EST on Friday, November 29th, 2013.
