We are now in our third week of living at the beach before our big move to Virginia.

Experiencing Long Beach Island, NJ with kids is something entirely different than experiencing it in my twenties. Instead of looking up fun bars, I’m Googling new playgrounds and ice-cream shops.

Here are some of my favorite stores and attractions on Long Beach Island, NJ…whether you have kids or not. I hope to add to this list every summer. Feel free to comment with your favorite hotspots on L.B.I.! Read More »

Washington Lake Park Wine Festival: 6/21 & 6/22

WLP-2014-300x250-BannerAd

Ahhh, the lazy days of summer. When you can kick back on a Sunday afternoon with a cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc and relax on your porch swing.

Oh wait. You have kids? Me too. So it’s more like you can either:

  1. Wait til they go to bed at 8:00 9:24 P.M. to finally get that drink in peace.
  2. Lock yourself in the bathroom with the wine while they pound on the door.

OR…you can ditch the kids and hit up the Washington Lake Park Wine Festival next weekend! (Don’t leave the kids home alone, though. You should at least hire a babysitter.)

Can you even imagine? Five kid-free hours to walk around and sample the yummiest wines New Jersey has to offer!

There will be 18 wineries on hand sampling and selling over 300 different wines, PLUS food, music, and artisan crafters. The festival is Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 from 12:00-5:00.

Here’s a recap of the festival last year from my friend Linda of Giggles, Gobbles, and Gulps (one of the event’s sponsors).

Tickets are $15 if you purchase them online prior to the event or $20 at the gate. Under 21 years of age are admitted free.

For tickets and a list of the wineries, visit the Washington Lake Park Wine Festival page here.

So let’s sip into summer with the very best wines that N.J. has to offer! Hope to see you there!

Art Splash!

During the recent New Jersey heat wave, I had the chance to go somewhere COOL. On one of the hottest days yet this year, I ventured into the city to the lovely, air-conditioned sanctuary of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In the museum’s Perelman Building, my daughter and I were lucky enough to get a preview of Art Splash. Art Splash encompasses the museum’s summer season of exhibits, activities, and events for families to enjoy. Read More »

Visiting The Tuckerton Seaport

Disclosure: The following is a sponsored post, however, all opinions are my own.

Are you looking for something different to do with the kids this weekend? Why not head down to the Tuckerton Seaport? My family discovered this hidden gem, located in Tuckerton, NJ, last weekend.

We visited the seaport for its summer kickoff event, the Bluegrass & Barbecue Fest on May 19th. Despite the fact that it rained off and on that day, there was still much enjoyment to be had. Read More »

A Sunny Day at Sesame Place

I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive about attending Opening Day at Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA. Although I had been a bunch of times as a child, this was to be my first time at Sesame as a parent. I pictured long lines and screaming children. I worried that there wouldn’t be enough attractions to hold my almost 2-year-old daughter’s interest for the day. Let me tell you- what I had feared could not have been further from the truth.

Sesame Place was AMAZING! Read More »
