Best Skinny Jeans at Any Price

I am not a jeans snob by any means– if it fits and it looks good on me, I’ll gladly wear it.

Sometimes it is true, though, that you get what you pay for.

But after years and years of wearing jeans (I pretty much wear them every day that I get out of my pajamas), I have found a few pairs of skinny jeans that I really, really like…at all price points.

Why skinny jeans? Well, I just think they look good with any kind of top. I usually pair them with a flowy top or a bulky sweater to hide my midsection.

Here are my picks for my actual favorite pairs of skinny jeans that I have in my closet and wear all the time. Read More »

Hanna Andersson

Hanna Andersson grand opening

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here. Hanna Andersson provided me with a gift card in order to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Last night I had the honor of attending a special pre-Grand Opening of the new Hanna Andersson store at the Promenade in Marlton, NJ (between Athleta and Sur la Table).

To be honest, I haven’t shopped from their catalog in quite some time, but I am familiar with the brand. I even used to wear Hanna Andersson clothes as a child myself!

After visiting the store (and spending all of Santa’s toy money on clothes), however, I am now a huge fan. Read More »

Jamberry Nails

Jamberry Nails 1

I love getting a nice dark purple manicure (like OPI Wicked) for Thanksgiving and then a bright red one for the Christmas season.

But this year I think I’m going to jazz it up a bit with Jamberry nails.

Jamberry nails are a fun, festive way to give your nails a manicure that lasts.

Don’t know what they are? Let me explain…

Jamberry nails are considered “nail wraps,” applied with heat to your fingernails. They don’t chip and they last up to two weeks on fingers and four weeks on toes. Read More »

An Ode to My UGGs

An Ode to My Uggs

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

I think I can officially declare it “UGGs season.” It’s cold enough at night that my husband is forced to shut the windows and admit that the down comforter is necessary.

Every fall, though, I wonder…are UGGs still popular? Are they still considered “fashionable”?

Then I remember that my feet are cold and I don’t really care.

And I also remember that even if they were not considered fashionable, I DON’T CARE. Read More »

Fall Skin Care Tips

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure policy here. I am not a medical professional. Advice given about skin care is merely from my own personal knowledge and experience in my 33 years of caring for my own skin.

It’s officially fall! (Even though I’ve been kind of pretending it’s fall since September 1st.)

The weather has shifted, the scent of apple pie and pumpkin lattes is in the air and women are timidly stepping out in their Uggs. Or are Uggs not popular anymore? I’ll have to seek out an answer to that from a more fashionable person than myself.

Make sure your skin care routine is adjusted for this new weather. Check out my Fall Skin Care Tips!

The fashion police aren’t just for grown adults. There are little children that need guidance, too.

Little children whose mommies are too busy on Facebook and watching Bravo to dress them in cute little outfits every time they venture out.

I mean, sure it’s nice that the moms actually take their kids to the park, but is it so hard for the kids to look stylish when they go?

No. It is not. Read More »

Jamberry Nails Review

Jamberry Nails

Disclosure: Jamberry sent me samples to try in order to facilitate this Jamberry nails review. All opinions are my own.

Getting a manicure is one of my favorite things to do. It’s inexpensive, it’s relaxing, and I get an instant boost of confidence when looking at my perfectly painted fingers.

But let’s get real– my manicure always manages to get ruined within the first hour after I get it! Either it’s from putting on my seatbelt to drive home from the nail salon or one of my kids messing it up.

And then I get pissed. I’d rather have NO manicure than a smudged, imperfect one. Read More »

Cute Picks for Baby Boys

Disclosure: Some of the clothing companies listed sent me items for review. Opinions are my own.

Who says baby boy clothes are no fun?

Me! I said that when I was shopping for my first baby– a girl.

Then I had a boy and learned that they do make adorable clothes for the male sex, too! Plus, they’re not all pink!

Here’s some of the cutest clothes for little baby boys that I have found lately…

baby boy clothes

1. Beary Preppy 3-Piece Vest Set (Little Me Clothing): I’m a sucker for navy and white clothes. Little Me makes high quality, soft baby clothes that will make your baby feel cozy and snuggled. Plus, if you enter your email address when you first go to the website, you get a coupon for $10 off your first purchase!

2. Roll-Sleeve Plaid Camp Shirt (Tommy Hilfiger): Did you even know that Tommy Hilfiger made baby’s clothing? Me neither! There are SO many adorable polos, plaids, and pants for your little preppy baby. Tommy Hilfiger is currently running a sale on its website, so hurry on over to get an extra 50% off sale and clearance clothing through August 4th! Use code “THJUL50” at checkout.

3. Statement Sweatshirt One-Piece (Gap): Outfits like this are easy to put on and comfy for baby. I wish they made these for adults!

4. Humor-Graphic Bodysuit & Poplin Cargo Shorts (Old Navy): You can always count on Old Navy for cute onesies that are inexpensive and fun. And sales– they are always having sales and if you have an Old Navy card you get those great coupons in the mail.

5.  Chambray Collar Polo Shirt & Gingham Canvas Short (Janie & Jack): This is my go-to store for when my kids have a yacht party to attend. Hahaha. I do love Janie & Jack for special occasion outfits, like Easter and birthday parties. And these two items are on an incredible sale right now!

Where are your favorite places to shop for little boy clothes?

My Wishlist

My Wishlist

I was tentatively going to call this “Things I Want For Mother’s Day And/Or My Birthday,” but I thought that was too obvious. (My birthday is on May 26th.)

I settled on “My Wishlist,” because maybe people would think it was a wishlist about world peace or an end to suffering, and not just a list of presents that I want my family and friends to see.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d definitely like world peace, but I’m not sure anyone can buy me that for my birthday. If you can, by all means- go for it. If not, here is a list of things I want.  Read More »

Help! Choose My Dress For Tonight!

Help Choose My Dress

On Wednesday, I won tickets to the 95.5 PLJ Real Housewives of New York Cocktail Party tonight in NYC. On Thursday, I started thinking, Maybe it’s time to pick an outfit! Nah.

And here we are Friday morning. I’m leaving at 3:00 and I still don’t have a solid feeling about what outfit to wear.

My sister stylist brought over a bunch of dresses from her boutique. What’s the name of her boutique, you ask? “Melanie’s Closet.”

Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it. It’s ultra exclusive, invitation-only, and all the clothes are in the same size. Read More »

CHARM IT! {Review & Giveaway}

Charm It Post

Disclosure: I was provided with a CHARM IT! necklace and charms in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own (and that of my two-year-old daughter).

To say that my two-year-old daughter is “into jewelry” would be an understatement. On any given day she will leave the house wearing approximately twelve bracelets stacked on her arm and at least four necklaces.

When CHARM IT! offered me the chance to review one of their adorable necklaces or bracelets, I jumped at the chance. I knew it would be right up my daughter’s alley.  Read More »

Spring Into Florals! #FashionFriday

Spring Into Florals

The past few weeks I’ve been seeing bright flowery patterns a lot and I’m really liking them. They remind me of the Laura Ashley dresses I used to wear for Easter when I was little. Wow, I haven’t thought about Laura Ashley in years… (I just checked- it still exists.)

Since yesterday was the start of spring, here are some floral fashions to get you excited for warmer weather, birds chirping, and Mad Men premiering on April 13th!

And if anyone has seen floral pumps like the ones below for (ahem) cheaper than $375 (like way cheaper), please let me know where to find them!
I am linking up this post with the #FashionFriday Carnival Link-Up. Go check out hostess Jo-Lynne Shane’s post “Color Crush: Cobalt” on Musings of a Housewife.

Choosing a Look for the RHONY Premiere Party

Coco Chanel Quote

So what does one wear to a Real Housewives of New York Premiere Party?

I looked in my closet and just couldn’t find anything that screamed Kristen Taekman’s new BFF/cool blogger who attends events like this all the time.

Luckily, my friends at South Moon Under in Westfield were able to help. They offered to dress me (and my plus one) for the event, so on Saturday afternoon my sister Allison (the lucky recipient of my extra ticket) and I met up with Cynthia and her staff to choose our looks. Read More »

Why I Traded My $150 Jeans for Lee Jeans {Guest Post}

Lee Jeans Review

The following is a guest post from my older sister Allison, a self-confessed snob who was reluctant to try out some affordable jeans…but she did, and here is what happened:

I am a former jean snob. With my body type, I felt I needed special jeans to magically hide my flaws and accentuate my positives.
To be honest, I have a big butt, no waist, normal thighs and skinny calves. And I’m short. Yes, it’s hard to find jeans that fit me.  Read More »

Fashion Friday- Skinny Black Jeans

I will admit, I used to be a jean snob. After having two kids, though, fashion has kind of  totally taken a back seat.

I’d love to just wear what is comfy all the time (yoga pants). BUT, I am also making a conscious effort lately to actually put normal human clothes on. This comes at the request of my husband.

Since he is so wonderful, putting non-sweatpants on each day really is the least I can do. Read More »

Nacho Mama Tees Giveaway: 15 Winners!

Generally speaking, I don’t do t-shirts. They’re just not flattering.

I especially hate when people bring me back t-shirts from their vacations. It’s like, I didn’t go to Australia with you. You did. So why do I want a shirt that claims I did?

I make two exceptions. One is a fitted t-shirt, like the one my brother and sister-in-law got me from Hawaii. It is navy blue, soft, and actually has a flattering fit. Read More »

My Frugal Fashion Secret: Rent The Runway

Don’t have a huge budget for a big event? Try Rent the Runway and borrow designer duds for cheap!

Rent the Runway

This evening we have my hubby’s cousin’s wedding. I’m so excited to get dressed up, have some cocktails, and hopefully dance to songs from my youth like The Humpty Dance and Bust A Move.

Now, while I enjoy getting dressed up as much as the next girl, what I don’t enjoy is buying an expensive dress to only wear once or twice. Especially when I’m not quite back to my pre-baby weight.
