Finding Dory Deep Sea Bathroom

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

A Finding Dory shower curtain is a simple way to make a fun deep sea bathroom for the kids!

finding-dory-shower-curtain

If it were up to my daughter, her room would be done up to the hilt with character decor…

Frozen bedding, a Sofia the First table and chairs, and maybe even a Barbie Spy Squad bathroom set. If such a thing exists.

But I hate all that character crap. Read More »

How to Decorate a Boy/Girl Shared Bedroom

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.Minted provided me with products in order to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Decorating a shared boy/girl kids’ bedroom doesn’t have to be difficult. Here’s what we did…

FB How to Decorate a BoyGirl Shared BedroomDeciding to have my two oldest kids share a bedroom was a no-brainer.

I like the look of bunk beds, plus it would give us an extra bedroom to use for guests. Also it’s just easier to put two kids to bed at the same time in the same room. They don’t feel lonely and they can talk to each other (or sing to each other, as my daughter likes to do) as they drift off to sleep.

Decorating that shared bedroom, however, can be a challenge.  Read More »

How to Achieve Pinterest Perfection (When You’re NOT Crafty)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

Just because you aren’t crafty doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Pinterest perfection in your home!

FB How to Achieve Pinterest Perfection

Ahhh, Pinterest…where moms go to feel bad about themselves!

Sure it’s fun to pretend for a little while like you’re going to really do those crafts with your kids. Or throw that DIY Paw Patrol party. Or make that awesome wreath you saw for the front door.

Then reality sets in.

You barely have time to shower and read a chapter in a book. When the hell are you going to find the time to gather pinecones, moss, and berries for a centerpiece? Read More »

Print Your Own Elegant Easter Menu

The final step in your Easter celebration preparations…a pretty menu to display for your guests!

Elegant Easter Menu

Truth be told, I saw an ad online for a local restaurant that was serving a mouth-wateringly delicious Easter lunch for four to six adults for $64.99…and was thisclose to cancelling my plans to cook for Easter.

But alas.

I already have all my recipe ingredients and taking three kids to a restaurant after being in church for an hour sounds less than relaxing to me. Read More »

When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling Overwhelmed

The weekends always seem so full of promise.

Two full days of having my husband home to “help out” and no preschool to rush the kids off to in the mornings.

But then, inevitably, it’s Sunday mid-morning. I’ve been up since 5:30 (thanks, screaming two-year-old) and I’m still in my pajamas with a full to-do list.

I start to get that panicky, overwhelmed feeling as I think of all the things that are not “perfect” or “completed” in my life.

I need to get the toys organized for the consignment sale. I need to finish that blog post. Shit. There’s laundry in the dryer that I forgot to fold last night. Read More »

DIY Candy-Coated Picture Frames

This craft is perfect for the un-crafty mom…all you need is a glue gun, some candy, and a picture frame!

DIY Candy-Coated Picture Frames

If you know me, you know that I suck at crafts. Even ones I find on Pinterest…if they have more than, like, two instructions or supplies, I’m out.

I prefer to do activities that fall under the category, “Crafting With Shit You Find Around the House.”

Luckily, I own a glue gun already. We also have a ton of candy at my house. Read More »

The Art of the Toy Rotation

Art of the Toy Rotation

My children have too many toys. This has become even more apparent as I am unpacking in the new house and trying to fit everything into a nice, neat spot.

The older kids’ room has been last on my to-do list for exactly this reason…I am dreading where to put all of their toys. Every time I think I have unpacked the last box of toys, I find another one.

But now that I have all the toys in the house, I know that I need an innovative solution. I don’t want the room crammed wall to wall with toys. I don’t even want their closet (and it’s pretty big) crammed wall to wall with toys. I have some toys being stored in the family room. And until we have our basement finished, there is no other place I want to put them.

I mean, they don’t even need all the toys. There are just too manyRead More »

The House Hunt

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.
My apologies if things have been a little quiet here on the blog lately. These past few weeks have been crazy and we’re just getting started!

It’s about T-27 days until we are moving to Virginia.

Thankfully, we sold our house fairly quickly. With a closing date at the end of August, we had to make a trip down to Virginia last week to find a new house. We left the older two kids with my in-laws and brought the baby with us. Read More »

DIY Platform Swing

DIY Platform Swing
This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure policy here.

When my husband was looking for a swing, he had a few requirements in mind…

He wanted a swing that both kids (a four-year-old and a two-year-old) could fit on at the same time, so there would be no fighting over it.

He also wanted the swing to be lightweight, so that if it hit one of the kids, it wouldn’t really hurt them.

Finally, he wanted it to be relatively inexpensive.

He found this Multi-Children Swing on Amazon, but the price was a bit steep.

The Swing-n-Slide Monster Web Swing was another option, but he ultimately wanted a rectangular platform and not a circular one. (Plus, I like how our platform doesn’t have holes in it, like the webbing used for that one.) Read More »

DIY Halloween Window Silhouettes

DIY Halloween Window Silhouettes

This is my second year making Halloween window silhouettes. They are such a fun, cheap, easy way to get your house festive for Halloween!

Last year I made googly-eyed monsters and aliens but when selecting this year’s images, my three-year-old begged and begged for me not to do anything scary.

I tried to sketch out a friendly witch, but couldn’t get the head to look right. So I opted for some animals. Read More »

Kitchen Renovation Update

kitchen renovation update

Good morning, Monday! I hope you were not rudely awakened by a one-year-old screaming “Apple! Apple! Apple!” at 6 A.M. like I was. (That’s what he says for “food.”)

I thought I’d give a little kitchen renovation update, in order to explain why my life feels slightly in shambles and out of control as of late.

I think I’ve been without a stove, sink, and dishwasher for a little over a week now, but it’s hard to keep track.

And yes I know I’m lucky to be able to redo my kitchen, but it’s been slightly inconvenient.  Read More »

17 Alternatives to Carving a Pumpkin

17 Alternatives to Carving a Pumpkin
Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

It’s the first day of October and I’ve got Halloween on the brain! Possibly because I’ve been eating mini Kit-Kats like it’s my job.

Although I am pregnant and a stay-at-home mom. So maybe it is my job??

But anyways, my husband has told me the last two times I went apple picking that it’s too early to bring home a pumpkin.

Well guess what? Now it’s October and this lady is bringing home the pumpkin. (And more apples.) Or I will be bringing one home when I go pumpkin picking this Saturday.

What I WON’T be doing? Carving a pumpkin. It’s for suckers.

Here are 17 alternatives to carving a pumpkin… Read More »

Dyson DC59: Review

lferris

Disclosure: I received a Dyson DC59 for the purposes of this review. All of my positive opinions about the Dyson are my own…I really am loving it!

I’m kind of anal about having clean carpets, mainly because we have animals (two cats and a dog). Animals that are hairy and track litter.

With a one-year-old (who puts stuff in his mouth) and a three-year-old playing on the floor a lot, I just want their play surface to be clean. This means that I vacuum the downstairs carpet (which is a little too close for comfort to the laundry room litter box) at least once a day…usually right before we come downstairs to play after bathtime. 7 Tips From “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode”

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links that help support The Naughty Mommy if you make a purchase after clicking on them.

I try to read a lot, and when I really like a book I will post a review here.

Sometimes publishers will send me a book, but Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine (Money Saving Mom) is a book that I purchased on my own and it was so good that I want to share it with you!

Confession: I’ve been having difficulty trying to manage everything in my life lately, which seems silly, because I am a stay-at-home-mom.

But I also try to blog, exercise, make somewhat healthy meals for my family, and have a clean house. And hang out with my husband in the evenings, read books, be a good friend, and attend all the Real Housewives parties that I can. So, you see, it’s hard.

Some days I get overwhelmed and think there’s no way I can get everything done or be happy with my current situation of an unfinished to-do list and a messy house. This book helped me with all that.

It gave me practical tips to start doing today, plus guiding principles that help me rethink all the pressure I put on myself. Read More »
