It’s hard to believe that it’s May already. It’s even harder for me to believe that 30 days of doing The 30 Day Shred are over. (Thank God.)
I think this was truly the first time I ever completed it for 30 days in a row without skipping a day.
Towards the end, I had a few days where I really didn’t want to do it, but my Shred partner Kate gave me the encouragement I needed…It’s just twenty minutes! Twenty minutes out of your WHOLE day. Then you can have wine. And cookies.
That was all I needed to hear.
So after 30 days of doing this workout, I lost about 5 pounds. My stomach does NOT have a six-pack and I still have love handles. However, my butt definitely got smaller and looks tighter (according to my husband).
I think I need more cardio to lose the belly fat AND I need to get onto a healthier eating regimen. I have not been watching what I eat at all lately…wine almost every night, snacking at 9:00 P.M., sweets during the afternoon, etc.
For my cardio I’m going to go back to what I do best– running. This weekend I ran two miles each day. I have to be careful not to do too many miles at once, because that always causes my IT band to flare up.
But the weather is so nice out, it’s hard not to want to get out and run five miles. Even if I do have to take a kid with me in the jogging stroller. And the dog.

I’d love to find a half-marathon to run this summer. I enjoy having an event to train for. It makes it more believable when I tell my husband, “No really, I have to go for this hour-long run…sorry!”
And I’m going to try no wine on weeknights, only on the weekends. We’ll see how that one goes.
Maybe seltzer in a wine glass will be just as good??
